Description

Enjoy the mouthwatering experience of Valentine Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts—crispy bacon, crunchy water chestnuts, and a sweet sauce make these appetizers irresistible for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can whole water chestnuts (approx. 225 g)
  • 1 package center cut bacon (approx. 340 g)
  • 240 ml ketchup
  • 200 g brown sugar (packed)
  • 15 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • Toothpicks

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cut each bacon strip into thirds and drain the water chestnuts.
  • Wrap each water chestnut with a piece of bacon, securing with a toothpick.
  • Arrange bacon-wrapped chestnuts on a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 25 minutes until bacon begins to crisp.
  • Prepare sauce by combining ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a saucepan until dissolved.
  • Remove chestnuts from oven, spoon sauce over them, and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
  • Serve warm on a platter.

Notes

Using thicker-cut bacon can prevent shrinkage and ensure crispiness.
Feel free to prepare these a day ahead and refrigerate before baking for convenience.
Adjust the seasoning in the sauce with spices like garlic or chili powder for extra flavor.
