Description

These Sugar Cookie Cinnamon Rolls blend the charm of sugar cookies with the warmth of cinnamon rolls, creating a delicious treat perfect for brunch or dessert. Soft, fluffy, and topped with creamy icing, they are simple to prepare and ideal for sharing with family and friends.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for rolling)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300°F and toast flour on a cookie sheet for 8 minutes.
  • Heat milk to 110°F and add yeast and sugar, allowing to foam for 10 minutes.
  • Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Combine with milk mixture, egg, and butter to form dough.
  • Let dough rise in a warm environment for 1 hour, covered with a towel.
  • Prepare sugar cookie mix in a separate bowl while dough rises.
  • Make cinnamon filling by mixing butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Roll out dough and spread cinnamon filling, adding scoops of sugar cookie dough on top.
  • Roll into a log, slice into rolls, and place in a greased pan to rise for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 25-28 minutes until golden.
  • Prepare cream cheese icing and spread over rolls once cooled.

Notes

Store leftover rolls at room temperature for up to 2 days.
Can easily be made gluten-free or dairy-free with substitutions.
Prepare dough the night before for an easy morning baking session.
