Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Spray a 9"×13" baking pan with non-stick spray and set it aside.
- In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and molasses until creamy, about 1-2 minutes; a stand mixer is ideal due to the thick batter.
- Incorporate the egg and mix well.
- Add the dry ingredients and stir until the dough is thoroughly combined; it should be thick like cookie dough.
- Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan using a silicone spatula or your fingers.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes; let it cool. Adjust baking time as necessary for your oven; the edges should be crispy while the center remains a bit gooey.
- Allow to cool completely before optional frosting and cutting into squares, and consider adding Christmas sprinkles.
Notes
Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for better incorporation.
For a festive touch, consider adding a cream cheese frosting on top.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
