Description

This French Onion Pasta combines caramelized onions and creamy sauce, creating an irresistible dish perfect for cozy dinners or gatherings. A simple yet flavorful meal!


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 yellow onions (thinly sliced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 4 1/2 cups beef broth (or vegetable stock)
  • 1 pound shell pasta (or other short, dry pasta)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (finely chopped, for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over low heat.
  • Add sliced onions and sauté for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Deglaze with a splash of beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pan.
  • Add remaining broth, shell pasta, and thyme; simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Stir in cream and Parmesan cheese until heated through.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, use vegetable stock instead of beef broth.
Feel free to substitute shell pasta with another short pasta type if desired.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
