Description

This Crispy Pan-Fried Cabbage with Bacon & Onions is a delightful combination of flavors. The crispy bacon, tender cabbage, and aromatic onions come together to create a tasty dish that’s perfect for a quick dinner or a comforting meal. Easy to make and full of flavor, this recipe is great for anyone looking for a delicious homemade option.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 large green cabbage, chopped into square pieces (about 8 cups)
  • 1/2 tsp cajun seasoning
  • salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, to taste

Instructions

  • In a large skillet or dutch oven, cook the chopped bacon over medium-high heat until crispy, approximately 5-8 minutes. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, draining half of the drippings from the pan.
  • Lower the heat to medium and add the chopped onions, cooking until soft and translucent for about five minutes. Introduce the minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Incorporate the chopped cabbage into the skillet along with Cajun seasoning and salt and pepper to taste. Stir well, cover the pan, and reduce the heat to medium-low, cooking for 10-15 minutes and stirring occasionally.
  • Once the cabbage is tender, remove the lid, mix in the bacon, and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the seasoning to match your taste preferences.
Thick-cut bacon adds extra flavor and texture to the dish.
You can substitute green cabbage with napa or savoy cabbage for a different taste.
