- 1/2 cup california raisins
- oil for brushing bowl
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp water
- 3 tbsp icing sugar
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warmed milk, yeast, and sugar; let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
- Mix in eggs, water, salt, melted butter, and cinnamon into the yeast mixture until well combined.
- Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until a dough forms.
- Fold in the raisins and mix until evenly distributed.
- Brush a bowl with oil, place the dough inside, and cover with a moist towel; let rise in a warm spot for 90 minutes.
- After rising, divide the dough into 9 larger or 12 smaller portions and arrange on a baking pan.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Allow the buns to rise for another 30 minutes, covered with a towel.
- Brush the top of the buns with the egg wash.
- Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Combine icing sugar and water to form a thick glaze and transfer to a piping bag.
- Once cooled, pipe a cross on each bun and serve with butter.
