- 1 cup Butter
- 8 oz Dark Chocolate
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 3 cups Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1/3 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
- 2–3 tbsp Milk/Cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, melt butter and dark chocolate over a simmering pot of water until creamy.
- Remove from heat and gradually whisk in sugar, then add eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean with some moist crumbs.
- Cool brownies in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a large bowl, whip softened butter for buttercream until fluffy, then add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until combined.
- Once brownies are cooled, pipe chocolate buttercream on top in tree shapes, adding festive decorations if desired.
Notes
You can substitute butter with margarine for a dairy-free version.
For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free baking blend instead of all-purpose flour.
Ensure butter for frosting is softened to room temperature for the best consistency.
