- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 3/4 cup chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup crushed candy canes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla to the mixture and beat until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate and crushed candy canes, reserving some for topping.
- Scoop the dough into tablespoons, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
- Once chilled, place dough balls on baking sheets and bake for about 9 minutes until edges are golden.
- Let cookies cool on baking sheets before transferring to a wire rack and sprinkle reserved candy canes on top.
