Description

This Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta is a crowd-pleaser, marrying spicy Cajun flavors with creamy fettuccine, shrimp, and sausage for an easy weeknight meal.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fettuccine
  • 12 ounces large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 ring (13.5 ounces) smoked sausage
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook fettuccine until al dente, reserving ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
  • Pat shrimp dry and toss with half of Cajun seasoning.
  • In a skillet, heat oil and sear sausage until golden brown. Set aside.
  • Sear shrimp in the same skillet until pink and opaque, then remove.
  • Melt butter in the skillet, add garlic, then stir in cream and remaining seasonings.
  • Simmer sauce until slightly thickened, then mix in Parmesan until melted.
  • Combine fettuccine, shrimp, and sausage in the sauce, adjusting consistency with reserved pasta water as needed.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the microwave or on the stove, adding a splash of cream to restore creaminess.
Use different types of pasta if desired, such as penne or spaghetti.
