- 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 5 – 7 small limes)
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, simmer water and sugar to create a sugar syrup until dissolved, then allow to cool.
- Once cooled, mix in the fresh lime juice and fresh lemon juice to create the sweet and sour mix.
- Rim a glass with lime and kosher salt, then fill it with ice.
- In a shaker, combine tequila, sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur with ice, shaking until chilled.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Notes
For a sweeter drink, adjust the sugar in the sweet and sour mix to taste.
Using fresh citrus juice enhances the flavor significantly over bottled juice.
If desired, blend rather than shake for a frozen margarita variation.
