Description

This baked ham with brown sugar glaze offers irresistible flavor and a simple prep, making it perfect for holidays or family dinners. Its glossy appearance and delicious sweetness will make it the star of any table.


Ingredients

  • 8 lb bone-in spiral cut ham
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (fresh squeezed)
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • Cooking spray
  • Fresh herbs and fruit for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a baking pan with cooking spray.
  • In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, orange juice, orange zest, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook over medium heat until bubbly.
  • Place the ham in the prepared pan and pour half of the glaze over it. Cover with foil.
  • Bake for 2 hours, then remove the foil and brush with remaining glaze.
  • Increase oven temperature to 400°F and bake uncovered for another 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
  • Transfer ham to a platter, garnish, and serve.

Notes

Use unsalted butter for better control over salt levels.
A meat thermometer should read 140°F for safe serving.
Leftover ham can be frozen for up to three months.
