This Baked Broccoli Mac and Cheese combines creamy cheese sauce with fresh broccoli and a crunchy topping. It’s perfect for quick dinners and family gatherings!

- 16 oz macaroni
- 1 large head broccoli
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2¼ cups whole milk
- 3 cups grated mature cheddar
- Salt to taste
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water according to package instructions. Add chopped broccoli 5 minutes before the macaroni is done. Drain and keep warm.
- In a saucepan, melt butter then add flour whisking until golden. Gradually whisk in milk and simmer until thick. Stir in cheddar until creamy and add salt.
- Melt extra butter and combine with panko and garlic powder for the topping.
- Combine cheese sauce with the drained pasta and broccoli, then transfer to a baking dish. Top with panko mixture.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
Notes
Use gluten-free pasta for a gluten-free option.
Replace whole milk with non-dairy alternatives like almond milk.
If preparing in advance, assemble without baking and refrigerate.
